Violeta Koleva is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry (IGIC) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia, Bulgaria). She received her Ph.D. in the Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (Sofia, Bulgaria) in 1993. She is a member of the Scientific Council and a Chairman of Colloquium at IGIC. Her main research interests and expertise are in the field of synthesis, characterization and crystal chemistry of inorganic salts and oxides, molecular spectroscopy and bonding interactions in solid state. She has been working for more than ten years on the synthesis and characterization of lithium and sodium phosphate-based intercalation materials as electrodes in alkaline-ion batteries.
